Default Namida tsubo (2008)

The official website for Takahisa Zeze's Namida tsubo is now online, although at present it's just a home page. Art Port Inc. (K.K. Âto Pôto) is scheduled to release the movie theatrically in Japan on March 1st.

Namida tsubo is based on the eponymous novella by Jun'ichi Watanabe. The movie stars (listed order corresponds to order on official website) Kanako Kojima, Issei Ishida, and Aiko Satô.

Here's a description of Namida tsubo from Tokyograph: "The original work tells the story of a magazine editor who loses his wife to cancer, and he keeps her ashes in a jar. When he begins dating another woman, he becomes overwhelmed with guilt. For the movie version, the two women are sisters - Aiko Sato plays the younger sister who passes away, while Kanako Kojima plays the elder Tomoyo, co-starring with Issei Ishida."

The story looks interesting and the girls are so sweet!
I'll check it out for sure.

A theatrical trailer for Namida tsubo has just been added to the official website for the movie; click on 「予告編」 (yokokuhen) - the second tab from the right - on the top of the site's home page.

Ummm...am I missing how this is "extreme" cinema other than the director having done works within the genre and there's a cremated person in a jar? After having read all of the material and watched the trailer, this looks to be more of a melodrama. Even the sex that it's suggested to have (Junichi Watanabe is sort of known for this in his books) doesn't even look like it push it into the pinku eiga territory.

When I posted the first message on this thread, the official website for Namida tsubo was "just a home page." If, at that time, I had seen the trailer for the movie, I would have posted that message in the Asian General Cinema forum. Please move this thread there.

Your wish is my command. Didn't mean to sound rude in my last post, I just left things open just in case there was something that I may have missed.

Anyway, for the record, I am interested in seeing this movie because Watanabe is a great writer. I sort of recall at least one of his books has been translated into English.
