Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set
Unearthed Films is scheduled to release its 3-disc Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set in the U.S. on October 7th; the DVD set is available for pre-order from Amazon.com.
Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set apparently contains the following six movies from Fuji Kikaku's "Zankoku-bi: onna harakiri" collection: Onna harakiri: sange (starring Yûri Sunohara), Jogakusei: harakiri (starring Hiromi Saotome), Onna harakiri: seisan (starring Sunohara), Shiro-shôzoku: harakiri (starring Saotome), 'Shitsurakuen': jôbafuku onna harakiri (a.k.a. "Lost Paradise"; directed by Masami 'Merzbow' Akita, starring Asako Mochizuki, and co-starring Chimuo Nureki, Toshirô Hasegawa, and Sunohara), and Bijo kenshi: futari seppuku (starring Sunohara and Saotome).
Here's a description from Unearthed Films of the movies in Harakiri - Boobs & Blood Box Set: "Attired in their favorite fetish wear, hot-blooded Japanese ultra vixens perform the most masochistic acts of self-sacrifice and submission. The traditional oriental art of Harakiri... Violating their young bodies in ritual self-immolation, they plunge razor-edged blades into their soft, naked flesh. A sea of sweet, red blood cascades as their all too brief lives ebb, and death embraces them."
Saotome also stars in Shûji Kataoka's S&M Hunter Begins ( Sakasa tsurushi shibari nawa) - a.k.a. "Hageshii sex: ijô aibu" and "Jigoku no rôpâ 1" - and his sequel to it, S&M Hunter ( Kinbaku · SM · 18-sai) - a.k.a. "'SM 18-sai': kurên chûzuri" and "Jigoku no rôpâ 2".

this looks rather interesting.
i watched the trailer and have one question:
is it real?
i know this might sound stupid, but after watching squirmfest and terrible meal, it doesn't seem so unlikly that the japanese are willing to cut themselves.
i'm still wondering weather to order it or not.

mine came through yesterday
first of all i was really impressed with the case, i've always hated the Unearthed DVD cases, i know they're not the most important thing but for me it's damn important.
Double sided printed fold out cardboard with some lovely B&W pictures of Harakiri, i think they made and effort with the packaging from the extra money they made off Philosophy of a Knife.
After i put in the disk i was extremely disappointed. The cursor to chose which film you want to watch is the type of blade used to perform Harakiri, nothing wrong with that except it looked like it was done in about 2 minutes on Windows Paint, really really lame.
anyway, after a complaint about that me and my girlfriend dimmed the lights and watched the schoolgirl episode. It was pretty interesting to say the least, not so much entertaining and definitely not sexy, as good as 'boobs and blood' sounds that school girl looked like a school boy. Though the acting was good and the effects weren't bad, the editing was terrible! Also one of the cameras from the side angle was different to the other angles which stood out quite a lot.
one more thing which i didn't like about it was the fact that they didn't try to make the school girl's appearance well done, really wrinkled shirt and wonky neck tie, you think they could have at least ironed the shirt before making a film, the whole time while shooting a fly kept landing on her and buzzing around her, maybe she didn't wash either.
Oh well, despite my rant i didn't think it was that bad, sure there was lots of stuff wrong with it but not so much to put me off completely, my girlfriend on the other hand was.
I think next time i will watch the Merzbow one.

These are like Guniea Pig: 80's shot on tape right? You know a film is low budget when it was shot on video in the 80s!

Judging from the schoolgirl one i watched, Guinea Pig films are more realistic minus the later ones of course (Devil Woman Doc was just awful)
In Schoolgirl Harakiri you could see the prosthetics falling off her stomach.
so to answer your question: Yes, extremely low budget.

I thought Devil Doctor WOman was one of the best. it was actually entertaining and funny, and not boring. The part with the woman whos heart blows up when she gets scared: priceless.

i cant talk about the special effects because i've still to watch an entire movie ( xD ) but about the video quality, in my opinion it s really realistic, more or less like a low budget snuff movie
