There's something in the walls at my house.

  1. I was at my computer when all of a sudden, I heard a long drawn out squeaking sound that went on for about thirty seconds. After looking, I found out it was coming from behind the, though the wall I hear it in has no room on the other side.

So I hope a mouse or squirrel didn't die in there because if it did, I'll be met with a lovely smell pretty soon.

Who said anything about it being a mouse or a squirrel?...you've watched enough horror movies by now to know it could be anything in there...

Rats chewed through our shed last year. Genuinely chewed through the wall. Uuuurrghh!!! (it's OK, we had the council out to... erm, deal with them... brrrr...)

Not much you can do about it if it is a dead rodent I guess... they do tend to stink the place up though - my mom had a dead mouse in the back of her car for about four months and kept wondering what the foul smell was.... double uuuurrrghhh!!!

Rats in the walls? Sounds like Exham Priory. You're house is probably built on some ancient ruins where an old Magna Mater cult worshiped. Maybe it's zombie rats, hoards of undead rodents with eyes shining a radioactive green. Or maybe you abducted a former bully, bricked them up in the wall and then lost your memory after tripping over a chair pand hitting your head on some weights. I don't know about you but they all seem pretty plausible to me. There's also the slight chance it might've been a shy rat practicing it's falsetto for their latest rendition of Maria Callas' greatest hits.
  5. Ever seen either version of "Willard?"

If you do think it is a rat or mouse and you want to catch it, don't use those old fashioned traps. They are ineffective and torturous. Rats sometimes don't die when they are caught by the pressure clamp and they might mutilate themselves to become free.

    Or if it's not rats...

    Y'ever seen "Creepshow"...?

Of course...I do realise we're not helping much.....
  8. those jerks always move into my walls when it starts to get cold..and they run around and skritch skritch all over the place. creepy but harmless.

My X-boyfriend used to get squirrels in his walls and his attic.

Me, I'm unlucky enough to get crickets stuck in the walls at times, grrr.....I really hate crickets. The noise they make drives me insane. Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night to hunt one down because it's chirping so loud I can hear it through my ear plugs and it keeps me awake.

It's a damn pain when animals get in your walls. Just hope it's not termites. If they start eating things you'll hear stuff adjust and it's very costly to fix
