The Rockville Slayer -- Dark Horror This kinda follows in the footsteps of other psychological horror films like Psycho, where the true villian is really hard to determine until you see the actual murders...in this case because there are several people in this one dealing with serious issues. The film starts with the escape of a mental patient, followed by the slaying of four high school kids celebrating after the big game. Like all classic horror flicks, it has plenty of blood, guts, and gore, but unlike some of the other modern slashers, the characters are unique and well-chosen by whoever casted this thing: http://www.therockvilleslayer.com/intro I originally saw this back in October where we received some promo DVDs at Universal, so I have no idea how easy it is to find in stores. I was able to find an online copy however. Highly recommended. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000B5XPF6.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Official site looks horrible in Firefox, btw... OK, so imdb ratings can be notoriously unpredictable, but a 2.7/10 normally suggests something isn't quite right. Horror.com called it "very poorly acted, slow-moving", although I could find very few other reviews. Odd though that I found an awful lot of viral marketing on message boards though... I pity the poor Universal intern whose job it is to sign up to 1,001 movie boards and cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste...
