This thing in Korea is so nerve-racking. Apparently the south has begun playing native pop music across the border to irritate the north, using this song in particular by the band 4 Minute that emphasize how "free" the south is, and how much choice people have there. What's especially funny about this is how conservative the south is itself, and to what great lengths they've gone to in the past few years to censor pop music just like this from getting airplay on the main channels. I guess every government is hypocritical when it suits their needs.
I just had the most WAT-worthy discussion on facebook with some random racist idiot about the England flag debacle. It ended with him telling me my Muslim friends weren't true Muslims because they didn't follow the Koran to the letter and that he was going off to smoke pot.
"An uncontrollable fountain of oil could gush into the Gulf of Mexico until August, the Obama administration warned today, as BP conceded it was moving to a containment strategy after failing to plug the well at the centre of the most environmentally disastrous spill in US history." Cheers all around.
(Hi everyone.) In response to that oil spill business, it's just... a nightmare. It was upsetting enough that when it first happened neither BP, nor any federal agency was willing to plug it up because there was clearly money still in the well, but now with news like that it makes things even more hopeless. We shouldn't even be in the middle of the ocean digging giant holes. I've mentioned all this already to Ampersandparade, but if there are any kind of volunteer efforts to clean and help the animals caught in the ocean and on the beaches, I'd definitely sign up. It's summertime, and I'm free to do what I want. fearing that I may sound insensitive, I will say that the situation reminds me a little of Cloverfield, minus the giant monster, but because of how deep-sea drilling can have catastrophic results.
Very sad to hear that the Sterophonics former drummer, Stuart Cable, has been found dead. He had such a soothing lovely voice on the radio, and his hair was amazing.
USA! USA! USA! A draw is more than I ever imagined in my wildest dreams. Thank you England for giving it to us (?!), I guess you were worried you wouldn't lose on penalty this time around and needed to capitulate in other ways. Also, someone get Ashley Cole off of my television please, this is America, we only have room on ESPN for one sexual deviant sports star, thank you.
Its weird that things I predict out of thin air have a habit of actually bloody happening. Following my last shift during some random banter I just picked a result out of thin air for England Vs USA and if turned out to be spot on. I should act on my impulses now and again and put a bet down :snigger:
Last night I met a fellow somethingawful goon at a club I was at, who lives 3 streets away from and had quoted me in a thread we'd both posted in a mnth earlier. We chatted about Slender Man and Marble Hornets. I also met someone from Wolverhampton! I forgot his name though THERE ARE FORCES AT WORK HERE.
If Harry Potter has taught me anything it is that Hogworts is probably the worst school in the history of fiction :snigger:
My Mum phoned me today. My cat, Orly has been killed by a car. I had him the same year I joined these boards. I'm gong to miss the fat ginger git, cuddling me in bed
I'm really sorry to hear that hon   It must be awful to lose a pet so suddenly and in such awful circumstances I remember when my guinea pig Johnny (named after the legendary Johnny Marr) died in the night and my mom found him first, lying on his side in his little hutch: she covered him up with a teatowel, bless her, but I was still hugely upset for ages - just glad I didn't find him first, selfish as that might sound
Pet deaths are the worst. One of my dogs passed away in winter, a great big black lab that was thirteen years old. It was heartbreaking. Now my other dog, a delightfully chubby dachshund, is nearing seventeen and is also nearing her time to go. It's terrible to cope with! On an unrelated note, I will miss the vuvuzelas. And by "miss" I mean, not miss at all as they were horrible and drowned out all the vulgar chants. But I'm sure they were someone's idea of good crowd noise.
I managed to catch less than five minutes of the entire World Cup, which is pretty good going I think  Talking of vuvuzelas, I'm sure you've all seen this marvellous symphonic work by now, but Imma repost it anyway  Some clever person posted on the thread where I found it that they were highly disappointed since they'd only just purchased a vuvuzela in F# :snigger:
Music classes at the primary school I went to would have been so much easier if they had issued us with Vuvuzelas instead of recorders. My random thought - an old dessicated grey man, Vince Cable is proposing a tax on graduates. Why stop there - why not tax creativity, intellect and general wealth creating ability, while you are at it?
