I got paid today for a big custom order ($90!!! woohooo!!! ) so, true to form, I immediately went and blew the lot on personal finery  Victorian bootsies!!!! And a lovely creepy necklace  Also, for my birthday and in my deranged bid to own every single piece of Japan memorabilia in the entire world, my two new most important items in my collection: These are both so rare they make me want to cry  I've only ever seen dodgy tiny weeny scans of a few of the photographs from the 1979 Japanese Music Life Special, so to have them in my hands, A4 size, in luscious full glossy colour, is... indescribable
Thank you! I'm trying to make my everyday style more "elegant and grown-up" than what it is right now, "hobo-ish and full of holes" I was so glad to find a pair of Victorian-style boots that didn't have 4 inch heels at last! As for the necklace, well, I can't help being an old skool goff at heart still you know
Mandi, I freaking love that necklace. I'm not an accessories person, but if that were hanging in a store, I'd be compelled to buy it. Something about real life makes it harder to reject than the internet. And as for your Victorian boots, I really like boots, and have been known to wear them with shorts to the embarassment of my boyfriend. Boots go with everything! (I miss high school and having shocking red hair. )
Yay, I'm so glad you like the necklace too Tyler! I just can't resist anything old skool goff and/or creepy mediaeval gothic church type thing  And I love boots too, my cupboard is crammed with all boots and no shoes  Boots + shorts = well sexy, not embarrassing! Your boyfriend needs a sartorial talking-to I think
Every time I come across the words "old school goth" I think of early eighties kids all shades of pale listening to Depeche Mode in their cars while they smoke outside of school. And I am a big fan for anything that skews slightly maccabre and still looks really cool and fun, especially jewelry. And thanks; my love of boots will continue regardless of anyone's support on the matter, and so should yours!
I think you'll like this one Mandi. I didn't actually buy the frame myself. It was a pressie from my family because they knew I was miffed at the fact it doesn't look like I'll be getting my own place anytime soon.
The poster looks totally awesome in that frame C hon, it really does it justice I'm sorry to hear you won't be moving out very soon, presumably the credit crunch has crunched you too hard to be able to afford it I don't know anything whatsoever about cameras but I'm glad you got the camera you wanted Ruby! And two instalments too, that can't be bad!
After my tonsillectomy (bleh), I picked up a Cure poster for $5 Should look great in my NYU dorm room Will take a picture in the morning.
Argh, I'm so jealous - what an awesome scoop, Gambit! Love to see a pic sometime! Hope your throat is feeling better after the tonsillectomy, too!
Oh that is so completely full of epic win!!!! I want one, stat! Now I know what to ask for for Christmas
Dorm life has been good to me. I've decorated my room with the Cure poster I mentioned earlier, a poster for Thirst, an as-of-yet posted Dawn of the Dead poster, and various DVD inserts. Also attached, 2 books I was very surprised to find in the bookstore across the street (instant buys, of course :-D)
Got my early birthday presents today, fresh from Japan! Noroi: Premium Edition DVD Noroi: Masafumi Kobayashi's Interview Notes and a Noroi promotional book. The promo book is GORGEOUS. It's full of images from the movie and even has a fold-out replica of the "Kagutaba Method" scroll. Also, Bong Joon-ho :-D
Uh, that is just about the best promotional material I have ever seen in my life, and I consider myself quite the purveyor of promo thingums. I am quite impressed by this, and a little jealous as well. That's an awesome buy!
That Noroi book is mega awesome! I have to ask where on earth you found it...? I can only assume that you got it via shopping service, but may we know from whence?
I got it through a Yahoo! Japan auction using Crescent-Shop as an intermediary. It was 500Y originally then with shipping and commission, total price was 2000Y :-? There's a couple of the books on Yahoo! right now, so if you manage to find a good intermediary service (or feel like laying down 2000Y), then it's definitely a worthy buy. Here're some more images from the book (some can be considered SPOILERS):
