Are there any good horror manga sites out there? I just started working on one (horrormanga.mutagene.net), but it occurs to me that I didn't really look first. Further, is this a project worth undertaking? I felt like reviewing a couple of Kazuo Umezu series, but now I'm seriously doubting that I have the patience to upkeep this new site in addition to the ones I already have going.
Though I have searched on Uzumaki and Junji Ito a lot, I have never found a horror manga site, but then I mostly only look for sites in English... I am sure we would all appreciate your Kazuo Umezu reviews, though, whether they are on a new site, or additions to the Ito site. Just out of interest, would I be right in thinking that the name kurouzu comes from the words "black whirlpool?" Since I have only seen the Viz translated version, I have not been able to see the original kanji, so it's only guesswork...
do it, mutagene! do it! <subliminal whisper> you know you want to... :black: and we want you to too.
thanks for checking it out alex (and for leaving a note in the guestbook, too ). you know, it's funny, but i have this curious, sudden compulsion to keep working on the site. saru - is the lake really called kurouzu? i'll check later and tell you what the kanji are; don't remember offhand.
Thanks for that information on kurouzu, Mutagene. Also, I'm looking forward to that new horror manga site. (and everyone else I'm sure). Your Junji Ito site is already the definitive one on that author.
I absolutely love your top banner on horrormanga.mutagene.net... amazing!!! and the reviews of Kazuo Umezu books make me want to go and buy many more - thanks to Midori's awesome Orochi: Blood tip-off, I did at long last manage to find one in translation... don't suppose you know if there are any others, do you? :?:
oh, thanks -- very flattered! here's the source: http://www.kanazawa-bidai.ac.jp/~hangyo/umezu/img/hyo_mv01.gif i'm afraid i haven't even read Orochi: Blood yet myself i don't know if he has anything else in english, but i don't think so. part of the reason i've started my site is i'm hoping it might convince some companies to translate some of umezu's other stories, too. fat chance, probably, but worth a try -- and hopefully the japanese extracts and difficulty ratings will give non-native readers some idea of whether they can tackle a work or not.
And of course lets not forget the other great horror manga site http://nensha.net Scanslations by Ring-obsessed nutters
ah yes, there's one for the links not too fond of the ring manga myself, but they're pretty important and..hm... maybe i should gtive them another try. btw, i'd be very grateful if you wrote a review of the ring manga for my site
heh, I'm quite busy but I'll see what I can do. Haven't read all of 'em tho, so far only: Ring (Novel) although, "muddling through it" would be a better description Rasen Sadako (Short Story from the Birthday manga) Floating Coffin (as above) The missing story from that manga (Lemonheart) is currently being worked on by me and a Japanese friend. I don't get to talk to her half as often as I'd like so god knows when it'll be finished.
*pout, poke and general annoying behaviour* Mutagene you've got a movie section on your site will you join my site ring? *tries to look endearing*
sorry i didn't respond to you before nakiko. i'm trying to really specialize with this website (a little bit less so with junjiito.mutagene.net, but still a fair bit), so i'm afraid that if your site doesn't have any horror manga then i won't link. sorry -- it sounds kinda nasty to me, but i don't mean it like that. just trying to keep things as simple as possible. especially with the links, i really hate to have more than a screen's worth of them. i guess i make up for the chaos of my apartment and life with the controlled minimalism of my site. hey, i just typed 'horror manga' into google and my site came out first -- which is a big surprise for me since it's been visited less than 100 times so far.
Okay...thanks for your honesty-- to be truthful I'm really upset about the whole thing. I worked so hard to make the codes, set the whole thing up and email loads of people, plus sending messages to the main message boards and only Mike jonas has joined in almost two weeks. I'm going to shut it down and forget about helping other web masters/mistresses-- they probably can't even be bothered. *present company accepted*
I hope you don't give up. I know how frustrating it can be, but the longer you stick with it the greater your chances of getting it off the ground. It would be a pity if you did all that work for nothing.
Thanks for the encouragement-- it does suck tho. I'm glad people are still visiting my website or I'd be totally crushed. I'll leave it open, but honestly I'm not expecting anyone to bother now ¬_¬
Gyo series @ Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...07257/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/026-8340800-8657262
Thanks for the shout-out V Bloody amazon.com, for once not having cancelled one of my orders without telling me, this time won't let me cancel my pre-order. BAH!!!!! I wish they'd make their damn minds up!!! :x
If it's a pre-order and they don't have the stock, you are within your rights to cancel. Drop 'em a sternly worded e-mail...and tell them I'll put their eyes out if they don't let you have your way.....
