    Forbidden Siren (Japan 2006)

I hope this is the right place but...

Has anyone else heard that there's going to be a Forbidden Siren movie?
apparently it is going to be based on both games and to be released in conjuction with the second game. (february 2006 if i rememver correctly.)
Yukihiko Tsutsumi who did the Trick TV-series is going to be the director and Yui Ichikawa is going to play the main character.

personally I really hope this is going to be a good movie as I loved the game.

I think that if it is handled carefully and correctly, then Forbidden Siren could be a very good movie. The game was not really action orientated, IMHO, it focused more on stroyline and scares. If the atmosphere, dread and tension as well as the downright scariness of the shibito and the chilling sound of the siren in the distance are correctly carried across to the movie, then we are in for a spooky treat.

    Cool!

The first time that I had heard of a similar project done in Japan is "Ghost System", though I don't know if the producers had followed up on the game/anime project after the movie and novel releases. Hopefully, this one would not follow the same path.

EDIT: Just viewed the trailer and it did not show much. Perhaps we will know more about it after the Roadshow event.

Woohoo! I'm so glad to hear that this game is being made into a movie, and I can't wait for it's release. I just hope they do the game justice unlike so many other game-movie adaptations.

    Well well well...

"According to Variety today, Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures has locked up the film rights to Playstation 2 game SIREN."

"The English flick will focus on an American med school student searching for her missing sister in Japan. She begins her investigation in the remote mountain village of Hanuda, only to find herself trapped with an unspeakable evil that can no longer be contained."

    Ugh.

Usually movies based on videogames have an strong tendency to visit suckyland, ask mr. Uwe Boll for more information on the subject

Interesting, I wonder how much both movies will differ from each other but I'm guessing a lot.

Bright Side: We get 2 totally different movies instead of a remake. This new one is based on the first game while the one coming out next month is based on the 2nd.

Variety reports the movie opened surprisingly well in Japan, considering the slump in horror movie box office. Variety reports:

Hmm...think this version will be released here? Great marketing can b had if they release both Siren 2 and Movie at the same time.

    :crazyeye: I love Forbidden Siren...

Awesome! I must admit though, I'm looking much more in the direction of the Japanese one than the American-made one..:-P

I think they should stop trying to remake all these movies. Doesn't matter if it's good or not, but what's the purpose exactly?
  14. Troika Dead From The Kneck Up

    To make money.

*nods sagely* marvellously succinct and very true

I always have to add that to a thread when someone questions the motives of remakes :)

But I personally wouldn't class the US version as a remake anyway since it's based on the first game and the Japanese movie is based on the second one.
