I'm having difficulty finding a great site that has photos of cool asian hairstyles...hopefully one of you could help me out? My hair is long enough that I could get a great haircut, but I can't see any stylists over here that would know how to pull it off without a reference photo.

Fwiw Kid, I asked my hairdresser the self-same question about a year ago. (Like an idiot, I wanted to do an IRL version of Sakuya's hairdo from Tenchi Muyo :lol:)
Turns out that because my hair is quite fine, there's no way on the planet I'd actually be able to have a Japanese/Asian-type cut. Bah! :(
Still... if it's cuts you're after, how about Fruits for some ideas?

Or http://www.japanesestreets.com/ (http://www.japanesestreets.com/)
Hope they help a wee bit :)

Thanks for the links, Mandi. :hug:
I'm having difficulty finding any hairstyle pictures on the Fruits web site, though. Gotta love overly-artistic-confusing-as-hell-to-navigate sites. heh

Thanks for the links, Mandi. :hug:
<bows> my pleasure :D
If they weren't any good, perhaps some of these might provide some further help (the top one actually has a list of Japanese hairdressers, with a whole bunch of gallery links, which might be of more use to you):

Please don't use shortened versions of words. Many of our members here do not have English as a first language.
Azn = Asian
2 = to
r = are
Thank you.

It's understandable why you guys would want an "Asian" hairstyle, but God knows why you'd want the actual hair. Being Asian myself, I hate how thick and wiry my hair is (talking about individual strands, not as a whole) and when it pokes me in the neck, it feels like needles. Trust me, love the styles and not the hair itself. :lol:

The problem with that is that you can't really do the styles with non-Asian hair! :lol: My hair is too fine to even make an attempt at anything Asian-styled (as well as being a pain in the arse in general), so I do kind of wish I had the right hair type for the job :D
If you want to know about irritating hair, here's mine: gets greasy after 1 day, flyaway/so static it sticks to my face after blowdrying, and at the merest suggestion of any humidity in the air, it goes all wavy :bad-word: :lol:

As someone who has had a plethora of awkward, bizarre, shaggy, even mullet-y "Asian" haircuts, I've enjoyed them a great deal, and have one now actually I yanked from one of those silly Korean pin-up boy magazines. I am partly Jewish, and partly Native American, so I have curly hair that I straighten (which is after a relaxer is put in it), but that is thick and prickly as mortal sin. There really is no way of escaping what you are born with, but when I got my first ugly Japanese haircut in high school, I had three different hair stylists say it was impossible, and then the fourth said it wasn't. The facts: it actually wasn't, although it's difficult to immitate a style that isn't created for your hair type. So while nearly anyone can replicate it after some work, my guess is for most people, it's more work than could be valued after all the expended energy. My advice to all is that if you try it and you spend an hour in the bathroom each day, find something that better suits your weirdo hair.
And I have a younger brother who feels your pain, Mandi. I have a brother who has fine (but adorable) curly hair (he missed the Indian gene), but by mid-afternoon, it's greasy, and he looks like a Jersey mafioso. He just buzzes his close to his scalp these days. It worked for Sigourney Weaver, wink.

:lol: I already look like an butch old jailbird without buzzing my scalp so I think I'll stick with the Louise Brooks bob that mostly works for my stupid hair, unless it gets damp :lol: I just blow-fry it (typo intended) nowadays and then spray it with freeze hold hairspray until it goes crispy :lol:
I've had exactly the same story from hairdressers too, though: three times in a row I've had them tell me hime cuts aren't for folks with fine hair, but then friends who actually have hime cuts and fine hair say they work pretty well, so I just needs to find me an open-minded hairdresser that'll actually try to do what you ask them to :lol: Thanks for the reassurance and advice, Tyler :D

No problem, lady. In my great pyramid of vanity that is my family, they of the hair extensions and nosejobs and fake breasts ilk, I have learned that you never have to accept no when it comes to personal appearance, so long as you have the willingness to suffer some for it and the patience to find somebody to do it without hesitation. Me, I just like neat haircuts. I won't be getting boobs anytime soon.

Wow. I'm so lucky. My hair naturally grows out like Sugizo's.
As for hair suggestions, check out Visual Kei. It's basically like glam metal, with Asians.
Personal favourites...
Uruha, from the GazettE, especially in the music video Reila
Ruki looks good also. Hell, the whole band looks good.
Check out Kanon from Antic Cafe. Bou looks hott, but unfortunately, Bou's a guy....)= You can get Miku's hair though. It looks pretty easy.
And then there's X Japan. Old school, but still cool. Heheh..
Let's see... from memory, I'd say...
Oh! Use wax, not hairspray. Here are some videos that are pretty cool.
this one here's a really popular brand circulating around China or Japan. Forgot which. My Chinese friends told me about it.
I just chose one that looked like my hair [used to )= . . .] look like.
